Loraine Binion is the Executive Director of Finance and Administration of
the University Relations Division at the UC Berkeley and Treasurer of the UC Berkeley Foundation.
Prior to coming to the university, Loraine was the Chief Financial Officer of The Women’s Foundation of California. She has served as Director of Finance for the Americas Region of American President Lines and spent 18 years at Levi Strauss & Co., where her last position was Director of Finance for the Americas Division.
A native of Los Angeles, Loraine received a B.S. degree in Business Administration from California State Polytechnic University at Pomona and an MBA from UCLA. A certified public accountant, she is an adjunct Professor of Accounting at Golden Gate University and has taught at several Los Angeles and Bay Area colleges.
Loraine has received recognition and honors for her professional accomplishments and community service. The Oakland YMCA honored Loraine for her contributions towards the advancement and improvement of life for women in the Bay Area. She has been featured in the magazines Fortune, Dollars and Sense, and Ebony, which named her to its list of the “100 Best and Brightest Black Women in Corporate America.” Loraine was one of six women featured in the book A Few Good Women: Breaking the Barriers to Top Management, by Jane White (published by Prentice-Hall).
She has served on the boards of directors of Big Sisters of the East Bay and Oakland Youthworks, a job placement agency for inner city youth. Loraine enjoys mentoring college students through the East Bay College Fund and has also served as a mentor with An Income of Her Own, a program that give young women the tools and knowledge to achieve financial independence and economic power.
Loraine is a founding member of the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of the National Black MBA Association. She is a past board member of the Bay Area Black United Fund and the Oakland/Bay Area chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women. She is also a proud graduate of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Program, a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and a member of the Oakland Bay Area Chapter of Links, Inc.
Loraine resides in Oakland. She is married to Joseph Hardy, a retired Oakland photographer, and has two daughters.
