Turner Group Construction

General Construction President

Len Turner is an accomplished individual who has used his ability in general construction and project management to transition Turner Group Construction from primarily residential projects to commercial and public works. First as a design engineer and now as General Construction President, he has secured contracts and established long-term relationships with clients in various sectors based on the quality of work Turner Group Construction continually produces. These relationships have allowed Turner Group Construction to become one of the largest Bay Area minority-owned companies. Recent projects for the company include the Fox Theatre restoration in Oakland, athletic facilities at Laney College and the East Oakland Sports Center, and renovations at the Oakland and San Francisco International Airports.

As the Chairman of the National Association of Minority Contractors--Northern California, he has partnered to revitalize this chapter, securing support from the Minority Business Development Association (MBDA), Oakland Mayor Jean Quan, San Francisco Mayor Edward Lee, and sponsoring companies such as Turner Construction, Swinerton Builders, Kaiser Permanente, and Clark Construction to increase minority contracting opportunities for the chapter’s 6,000-plus members.

He also owns a Bay Area residential facility, Greater New Beginnings Youth Services, Inc. Since its establishment in 1996, this program has successfully aided 75% of its at-risk teenage males in transitioning to a crime-free and incident-free life. Len is also active with the Alameda County Food Bank. He holds a BA in Business Management from University of Phoenix.
