The theme for OAACC Annual Luncheon this year is Bridge to Success: Achieving Greatness in our Businesses and Our Community. Kaiser Permanente was chosen as Corporation of the Year because it excels as a bridge builder .  It provides an outstanding example of a business that has successfully overcome downturns, is committed to diversity, and actively promotes well-being for individuals and the community as a whole

  OAACC instituted this award to acknowledge small businesses and entrepreneurs who have made significant contribution to improving the quality of life in our region. It is named for Oscar J. Coffey, Jr., who was the original organizer of the Black Chamber of Commerce for Oakland and later became the president of the U.S. African-American Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Coffey was passionate about helping small businesses succeed. Employing a style of quiet leadership, he worked with commitment and diligence to make a difference at the community, state, and national levels.          Merriwether & Williams has earned this honor because of their commitment and creative approaches to building bridges that connect businesses and the community. Merriwether & Williams support and advocacy of community initiatives, programs, and nonprofit organizations have helped empower local residents and make Bay Area a healthier, more prosperous place. Merriwether & Williams's way of doing business embodies the essence of our luncheon theme.
