Ralph J. Grant

Ralph J. Grant, JD CPA is a partner with GRANT & SMITH, LLP, a certified public accounting and management-consulting firm, located in Oakland, California. The firm has been servicing the San Francisco Bay Area for over thirty (30) years providing tax, accounting, audit and management advisory assistance to government entities, professionals, small businesses and not-for-profit organizations.

In addition to public accounting, Ralph’s professional experiences include five (5) years as an Internal Revenue Service Agent with the United States Treasury Department and three (3) years as an instructor in taxation and small business management at San Francisco State University.

Ralph is licensed with the California State Bar, the California State Board of Accountancy, the Supreme Court of the State of California, the United States Tax Court, California Department of Insurance, and the California Department of Real Estate.

Ralph is member of RVS INVESTMENT ADVISORS OF CALIFORNIA, LLC, a registered investment advisory firm. Through this entity, clients are assisted in their various estate and financial planning needs. Ralph has passed the Series 7 and 66 examinations

As a real estate broker, Ralph is an officer of RVS REALTY & MORTGAGE CORPORATION, which specializes in residential and commercial real estate mortgages and sales.

While Ralph does not actively hold himself out as a practicing attorney, he does provide legal services to clients in the areas of taxation, estate, business and real estate. In connection with the practice of law, affiliations with various law firms result in referral opportunities.

Ralph’s organizational affiliations include memberships with the National Association of Black Accountants, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, California Society of Certified Public Accountants and Charles Houston Bar Association. Ralph has been elected to serve as the year 2004-2005 Western Region Representative and San Francisco Bay Area Chapter Director for the National Association of Black Accountants Division of Firms.

He also provides volunteer services as a board member to entrepreneurial and youth focused not-for profit organizations such as the Marcus Foster Educational Institute, Oakland African American Chamber of Commerce, Eddie Walker Memorial Scholarship Fund, Donald McCullum Youth Court and the Oakland Private Industry Council. Coaching in the Oakland Metropolitan Babe Ruth Baseball League occupies his “spare time”.

Ralph is a graduate of McClymonds High School in Oakland, CA. His educational experiences include earning both his Bachelor of Arts (Accounting) and Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degrees from San Francisco State University, and his Doctor of Jurisprudence (JD) degree from Golden Gate University.

Ralph is married to Gloria. His son, Casey, works as real estate agent and has attended Hampton University. His daughter, Kimberley, is a law school graduate and is married to Lee Henderson, senior manager with Ernst & Young, LLP.
